Feeling lucky @ Five and Dime

Missing Cute Cute for 3 days, Cuchi brought Cute Cute down to River Valley to try one of the cosy and isolated cafes in Singapore. Located along River Valley Road and opposite the Automobile Association, Five and Dime is a stand alone cafe using one of the old 3 storey houses.

It might be easy to miss this place if you did not observe the area carefully. Rather inconspicuous, Five and Dime does blend into its surrounding but the interior was a bit squeezy though. (The lack of seats was one of their bug bears) The lions were there for the brunch and they got into ordering quickly.
Corned beef hash, eggs benny, long black and flat white were ordered.

When the coffee came, the lions were surprised by the fancy gems used instead of a biscotti or biscuit. Really keeping it Singapore style. Coming back to coffee tasting, the long black was nice and smooth. Not a heavily bodied blend but nicely balanced. The flat white however, was a bit of a disappointment. Cuchi thinks that the milk was frothed a bit too long, giving it a more cappuccino texture rather than flat white.

Eggs Benny
The eggs benny and corned beef and hash were ordered because it is only available during the weekends. The corned beef was kinda of ordinary, apart from the portion which was quite huge for one person, it taste average. The eggs benny was different though. The hollandaise sauce was tangy and creamy, just nice on top of the toast. Portion was huge also.

Here is our review for Five and Dime

Coffee quality: 7 pawprints out of 10
Food quality: 7 pawprints out of 10 (Although the portion is huge, the food is quite expensive)
Ambience: 7 pawprints out of 10
