Going back to the colonial times at Berkeley Restaurant

Fancy a place that transports you back to Singapore's colonial past and makes you feel like a good ole English gentleman and lady? Good thing that you don't have to travel all the way to England. Turn back the clock soak in Berkeley Restaurant's cosy ambience.

Located at the Balmoral estate in Newton, Berkeley Restaurant is nestled inside Sloane Court Hotel. It did take the Lions quite some time to find this quaint little hotel as it is not located near any prominent buildings but was dwarfed by the tall surrounding condominiums. But step right in, past the wooden doors with steel chain handles and feel perfectly at home in a traditional black-and-white English cottage.

The Lions love the hearty breakfast set here at only $12++. The 4 pieces of toast were perfectly browned and tasted heavenly with the scoop of marmalade jam. Believed that there is a Hainanese chef inside the kitchen due to the peculiar Hainanese style of cooking. Each breakfast set also came with an option of tea or coffee in a traditional stainless steel pot. Nostalgic indeed.

Maggie seasoning sauce - perfect with eggs!
Berkeley Restaurant is a wonderful place for you to sip your cup of coffee and relax while the languid morning goes by. The lions were also excited that there is an outdoor garden for them to roam around.
