The Unapologetic #fatdieyou Platter

Hey peeps, if you have not tried Chef Jeremy Nguee's innovative take on the humble laksa at The U Factory, we recommend that you head down quick before the pop-up Rakusaba disappears at the end of January. It was one of the best versions we've ever had of the ubiquitous hawker dish (forget the now sadly diluted 3$@ Katong Laksa). For those who can't get enough of this talented local chef, you might want to summon your makan kakis for the ultimate sinful dining experience at Platters Bistro & Bar. This guest chef collaboration sees Chef Jeremy working around the theme of indulgence, designing a menu on 4 main communal platters with tongue-in-cheek names like #fatdieyou and #neverdiebefore. LOL. No wonder he's known to be a firm champion of local cuisine and produce.

Chef Jeremy's stellar credentials include being the
official caterer for Diner En Blanc.
A word of caution here though: the menu for this
collaboration is nothing uppity and refined. It showcases
his take on accessible comfort food. Watch out for calorie-busting
stuff like Buah Keluak Butter and Candied Bacon.
Thunder Thighs & Crackpot Rice aka "The 'Siao' Seafood Starter" ($38/$68):
Plump & Juicy French Frog Legs, Soft Shell Crabs and... ...
Crab Roe Rice. This is not the time to worry about your
cholesterol levels.
The Maniac Meat Main Course aka "Never Die Before" ($48/$88):
Grilled Angus Sirloin, Truffle Roast Spring Chicken, homemade Foie Gras
Terrine with sides of Buah Keluak Butter, Maple Candied Bacon, Grape Jelly
and Charcoal Crumbs.
The infamous Buah Keluak Butter.
Coffee Caramel Delight aka "FatDieYou #1" ($16):
Caramel Fondant, Coffee Jelly, Vanilla Ice-Cream, Chili Chocolate Crumb
and Peanut Brittle.
My Pastry Hero aka "FatDieYou #2" ($16):
Freshly baked madeleines, Rose Meringue, Rose Espuma,
Lychee Jelly, Raspberry Sorbet. This dish is inspired by the Ispahan -
the best selling macaron by French pastry chef Pierre Herme.

This collaboration currently runs till end of February. Prices quoted are for half and full platters. Thanks to Jean of FoodCult for the invite!
